Not specifically, but I'm aware he died of cancer and I think I've heard reference to the latter. Does he speak about suffering himself with regards to either? Well, he does say he wishes he wasn't born, essentially (he specifically says "do you think that if I was asked to be born I'd have chosen so?" in paraphrase), and yes, he was in a lot of pain and, judging from his words, misery. So in your estimation, the essence of Niz's message amounts to: Life Sucks...it's a misery.....there is no escape from suffering?

I didn't estimate Nisargadatta just before, I just told you what he said. Initially though, you used Nisargadatta to support the following assertion: The essence of Niz's teachings is that ignorance (identification with mind, the delusion of separation) does in fact have everything to do with suffering or the absence of thereof. While you are looking to his words to conclude that he lived and died, suffering, you might want to also look at what he had to say about the ignorance/delusion that is at the root of suffering. The former involves your own personal interpretation of his words, a reading into, concluding, whereas the latter is very clear within his teachings; Suffering has everything to do with a particular ignorance/delusion...a particular ignorance/delusion that he was free of.
