“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.” ― Dalai Lama “Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.” ― Mahatma Gandhi First one is correct but second one is nonsense!

Or, you could consider the possibility that you don't know everything, as far fetched as that may be.

In some ways the new technology is a wonderful thing. In some ways it's just a new way to express our ignorance. A community cannot be better than what the residents bring with them, and no technology can change that. The focus on spiritual truth and ending human suffering is perhaps mankind's most noble endeavor, and yet look at what we bring to the table. We are children playing with the tools of creative genius and trying not to hurt anybody. That's the best we can do. How much the world around us changes doesn't matter. Mankind will suffer until mankind changes. That's what Niz was trying to tell us. Oh, I know that 2 months have passed, but suffering is eternal I'm afraid. Nisargadatta suffered til the very end, and since situations change all the time, suffering is here to stay. Nothing to do with a particular ignorance, just the way it is. Not according to him. His entire body of teachings addressed seeing through false ideas that cause suffering...and he spoke from the position of having seen through the false; "It is always the false that makes you suffer, the false desires and fears, the false values and ideas, the false relationships between people. Abandon the false and you are free of pain; truth makes happy, truth liberates." Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I don't actually know that Niz suffered, and if he did not, it had everything to do with the absence of ignorance.

Or have you seen the quote about the public toilet in front of his house? Not specifically, but I'm aware he died of cancer and I think I've heard reference to the latter. Does he speak about suffering himself with regards to either?

"Most human beings derive their entire sense of self from their conditioning.....we are conditioned to view the world in a certain way. We are taught to see the world through certain eyes. Some people think the world is a wonderful place; some people think it's threatening. Some people are prone to a liberal point of view; some have a more conservative point of view. All of this is part of the conditioning of the body and mind, and all of this goes into the construction of a dualistic view of life and a dualistic view of self. the dualism is what I mean when I talk about conditioning." Adyashanti

Adyashanti The seeing that 'the world doesn't need fixing' transcends that dualistic view he speaks of.
