And why is I being vilified in spiritual circles? You'll have to pardon my manners... I remember your posts over at ST.Com. I always enjoyed reading you when I was there. I and vilification..... Hmmmmm.... I remember when I started out on this path. I had the sequence backwards with regard to I, Me, Mine. Once I came to the understanding that something is prior to the I,Me, Mine reference, it wasn't such a big deal anymore. But in the beginning I was still pretty hung up on the 'I'dentity. In a way, it's just too narrow an agreement I made with myself. We are vast. We contain multitudes.

I think there can be a sloppy or convenient use of the word to describe all manner of ills, and even in general 'non-spiritual' language this applies. I am reminded of George Constanza in Seinfeld saying it to Jerry occasionally...''where do you get the ego?!'' lol At core, I would say ego is the individual point of perception/experience. Neither positive or negative. Personally, I tend to use 'egocentricity' to denote what is negative, and egocentricity is the product of misunderstanding about the nature of individuality in relation to the totality. This egocentricity is reflected in the way our economy is run, our politics, social institutions of all kinds, and obviously our relationships.

I like the differentiation between ego and egocentricity. Egocentricity is really the core cause of lack of understanding. Within the confines of egocentricity, the "I" becomes an adversary to the expansion of happiness and bliss. It's filled with anxiety.

The egocentricity is caused by misunderstanding and is a core cause OF lack of understanding. Like chicken and egg, they go together.

Anything that relates what you are with something is ego based . Only if you believe you know what that thing is. If you don't know, then there is no ego to relate it to.

Sent from my SM-G903W using Tapatalk You have to relate what you are to something self identified . It doesn't matter if a peep knows what a peep is, or what a human is or what consciousness is . It's the self association that one makes in reflection of everything else .
