Some numb nut from our county emergency preparedness team told every one on nextdoor to store two weeks worth of supplies. Today while riding my bike I saw the mayhem at the grocery store, sheer panic. Hope folks calm down a bit. I'm more afraid of the frenzy than the disease. Where's FDR when you need him?

Where's FDR when you need him? the grocery stores are strong epicenters of anxiety (and social media). Here, there are people in cars, in cafes, kids on street, roads busy....if you turned the news off and didnt go to the grocery store, you probably wouldn't know there was an issue. Going to a grocery store was a pleasure a month ago, but as you notice....witnessing a frenzy is unpleasant. I've turned off the news, am giving social media a miss, and buying food mainly online for now.

Just heard schools are closing here, possibly for the remainder of the year (very happy my kid does online school at present), still no TP on shelves and hubby just got call postponing painting job that is currently in motion...about 3/4 way through....clients are concerned an employee was clearing his throat a tad too many times.....they are supposedly feeling unwell and believe they should quarantine as a family.....sheeple, sheepling....yay...

This morning I had the tv news on while reading posts, and the story popped up with regard to the countrywide quarantine in, Italy. The people on both sides of the street were out on their outdoor patios in their high rise apartments singing old Italian songs in unison in their neighborhoods. The whole thing had a rather profound effect on me.... just stopped me dead in my tracks.

Sucks in one way, but I see slight signs of neighbours helping each other, perhaps something positive in it all (relatively). On a conspiracy tip, I've heard the global shutdown is actually being used by 'white hats' to make profound positive changes....interesting how many billionaires and leading global figures have been 'diagnosed', and how many ceo's have recently stepped down.......
