Another convo & OP I find interesting over on ST that I'll drag over here;
"There have been some developments here for me lately. A certain settling in or awareness of what I like to call "what is." I experience shifts in awareness throughout the day where I shift into "that" for a brief period.
It's very strange because up until now I didn't realize what is right here, right in front of my face. All that talk about how it's so close that we don't even see it is starting to make sense now. It's so darn close it's right here! It's what I am.
And it feels like a disappointment in a way, because I think all this searching may have been for nothing. There's really nothing to find, is there? Lol.
So there's this strange disconnect, because the search seems to not have produced any results, yet these shifts keep happening and there's a sense that I'm getting closer to truth.
Haha anyway, thoughts about this? Is enlightenment a disappointment? Teetown[/quote]
As I see it, it's not a disappointment at all, as if there truly is enlightenment, then identification with the one who judges and clings to surface pleasures, who prior to awakening, imagined it to equal experiential content comforming perfectly at all times with surface preferences....a never ending experiential pleasure-fest, is plain and simply, gone.

I can relate a bit though because your mind had all these crazy unrealistic expectations. So in a way, disappointment arises, but that too simply comes up and goes. The mind is disappointed at something that it made up in the first place.
