Hey Laughter, I get it that you are not interested in discussing this, so no worries if you have no response at all, but I came across this in some past posts and felt compelled to comment. What you are missing there is that the knowing IS dependent upon 'something' and that 'something' is the very appearance that it is being ascribed TO. Absent the appearing person, absent THAT perception, there would be no 'immediate, self-evident' knowing.
All knowing relative to something that is appearing, is by virtue of that, 'relative knowledge.' And relative knowing is not absolute knowing.

Just wanted to share this over here as you make a very profound point. Those who say they DO know, see love to be dependent upon that knowing. What you have seen first hand, something that has profound ramifications, is that Love flows and is experienced between apparent individuals, regardless of whether that knowing is in place, or whether it is absent.
In the absence of knowing, there is still caring about what appears. The fact that the 'knowers' cannot see that, indicates just how wrapped up they are in what they think they know about what is appearing.
This divergence in seeing is not just a small thing. Not knowing...seeing that you do not know, is part and parcel of waking up.

The end of suffering is not dependent upon collapsing or denying all distinction. Distinctions are not the problem. Just as mind and/or experience is not the problem. Imaginary separation IS the problem. Distinctions DO appear. Separation however, is imagined. It's wrongly assumed/concluded to be the case based upon the appearance of distinction. You do not need to get rid of distinction itself, only the faulty idea that the appearance of distinction is representative of fundamental separation.

So, non-duality, (seeing that there is no separation, no SVP, no separate objective world 'out there') is 'not relevant to people in today's world'? Oh my. I don't even know where to start with that one. It kinda takes the (three layer) cake.

Not thinking it's relevant implies he sees nondual teachings as a kind of philosophy or religion separate from the 'actuality' of day to day life. Perhaps it explains much.
