What kind of choices would you have really had at such a young age? Aren't they limited by what the parents can provide? They are the same ones I have right now, dear Really? Reads like a buncha baaklava to me.

I actually agree with that. That's why some of us talk about clarity and purification and not so much about meditating to stop thoughts. Purification of what in terms of what? And what for? What's impure and why purify it? Purification of mind of course.

Yeah, This child had the choice to immerse itself in the joy of the source, instead it got stricken by famine and almost got eaten by a bird of prey. It's all in the mind. Nothing to see here folks. He did? He looks to be quite young, and living in a rather desolate area. I didn't run across the option to choose until I was in my late 40's. The pic could have easily been me at some point prior to that choice in life. But I do know this. As unawake as I was prior to making that choice, I wouldn't have used an image such as that to make a point. How did you feel when you posted it? What's wrong with using that image to make a point? It's a powerful image (seen it before) and it's likely been used millions of times to make similar points.

I'm curious about the post originator's response, too. Did you join the Peace Corp? Did you dig water wells in Africa to alleviate suffering (My wife and a few of her teaching friends did back in '06), or teach the natives how to farm? Did you or Theodore start up a website to raise funds? If not, the image is posted out of context. S/He's just pointing fingers. We've got our hands full in the State of Michigan with Detroit and Flint. The people in both cities are suffering. Do you somehow think that has escaped my attention?

As I said, it's a powerful image, and it conjured up some powerful feelings in you. Though I can't say I understand your point. It was wrong of him to post that picture because he might not have done enough to alleviate suffering?? Would it be okay for your wife to post it?

Really? Now it's wrong to make points at all? Even if it doesn't include pictures of starving children? Is that the point you want to make?

The image, which has likely been used millions of times to make a point would have driven you to, say, another squirrel satsang?

I felt that it was a great representation of having no choice and why meditation for happiness is such a hoax, and I wondered if I'm wasting my time. I don't think I am. I'd like to ask you why drag meditation for anything into it? I don't see any connection between the two. I enjoy your generally skeptic nature, but it can be taken a smidge too far.
