Yeah, no true teacher would allow his followers to put them on a pedestal. Why take advantage of seekers to run your ashram when you could easily afford to pay non seekers to do the work? Sent from my SM-T210R using Tapatalk Every teacher lets the followers to put them on a pedestal, otherwise they wouldn't be teachers. They wouldn't get paid, they wouldn't receive special attention, etc. Yes, that too.

I have seen none of the sort. Please point out one to me. Most teachers sit on an actual pedestal during their talks.

I had the honor of being banned from Jed McKenna's forum without verbally assaulting him. I merely questioned a couple of his self-described rants.
Something leads me to be very pleased by that progress, like I did something right to get me banned so easily.

It's pretty clear that the guy who runs that forum, demands each member 'know his place,' as student, in full deference to his teacher status. Seems as soon as he gets a whiff of challenge, or the sense that you are not gonna bow down to him, you're gone. If you look through the conversations, there's not much at all in terms of direct challenge. Most are there, in full acceptance of all he says, as teacher. I see that as a litmus test of sorts for any teacher, or really, anyone making spiritual assertions in a forum type environment...or anywhere else for that matter. The very fact of taking issue with having your ideas challenged (in a civil manner) should be a huge red flag......a clear indicator that you want to state your view points, but not have to explain them or defend them in any way....which actually has at its root, a dependency upon those views and a deep down knowing that you're on shaky ground.

That's it. I think, even if somebody challenges one in a relatively uncivil manner, it says a lot of your views if you explain them in a calmer way where the misunderstanding of their anger lies. It takes a lot for a 'teacher' to be a teacher. No different in spirituality.

After all, What better way to convey something you think to be important, than to demonstrate it.

I was banned quite often at spiritualteachers.com for not agreeing with someone else's viewpoint. Their viewpoint was rather caustic, laced with tons of knowledge, always know it all anti-meditation types. I'm kind of a prick with regard to self righteous teachers. The point they always missed about meditation is it burrows beneath all the chutzpah knowledge. So, fuck 'em. Now they have to find someone else to trifle with to satisfy their need.

To be fair, I don't know what meditation is all about either.
