Thirty five years ago I was reviewing for the medical licensure exams. Prior to going to the examination room on a four days spread , I would pass and drop by before the exams begin at the Black Nazarene Church nearby to pray. I tell God, "Lord, if you let me pass the exams, I promise you I'll never smoke again." When the exams was released a few months later, I got a failing mark. So, I took the medical licensure exams for the second time. This time I did not promise God anything. Since the smoking sign in the examination room was removed, we were allowed to light our cigarettes. While trying to answer a difficult question, I would pause and lit one. The answer immediately came. When the exam was over in two hours on the subject say, Ob-Gyne, you can see so many cigarette butt's littered on the floor under my chair. A few months later when the results of the board exams for physicians were out, to my amazement, I passed.
From that moment, I said to God, " IOW, Lord, you don't want me to quit smoking, do you?" 😁
