Another representation of purity can be perceived through one's aura . Peeps vibratory rate is expressed through one's energy field . I had one of those kirlian photographs taken of me years ago at the Mind & Body Festival in London. Do they still have those shows? I can't remember what my aura looked like though. Yer I believe so . I used to print the programmes of mind-body-soul festivals . Got caught out one day as I got a load of free tickets, I had about a dozen spare one time and so I handed them out to people in the queue . I didn't realize that the dude standing in the distance saw me doing it . He was the head man so to speak of our main customer . When I got back to work our sales rep said to me, that he phoned him up saying some bloke is costing him money as he is giving out free tickets I never got anymore tickets after that, I am not sure why

E started a thread over on ST forum with the same title, and a really interesting conversation is unfolding...thought I'd try to continue it on over here. AS much as it is said you cannot judge behaviors and circumstances to ascertain for certain whether one is enlightened or not, there are still mixed opinions & questions that arise for me, when a well accepted spiritual teacher/sage for example, develops a serious illness, or seemingly takes advantage sexually, of his students. How does the idea of 'purification' enter in....are there degrees of 'enlightenment'....or perhaps depths of 'awakening' where for some it only goes so deep, whereas for others, it is more encompassing?..or are enlightenment and purification two distinct happenings? Reefs on ST makes a distinction between SR and alignment....but if one has realized there is no separation, just how far 'out of alignment' can he ever actually get? Thoughts...? Purification of mind has been Enigmas mantra forever. But he's been banging his head on the wall, because quite simply, it doesn’t work. Never has worked and never will work. The desire to do something, like purification, with the garbage of the mind, or run away from it to the Himalaya's, is what perpetuates it. The best way to deal with it is to keep it where it is. That way it's momentum is allowed expression but is contained.

Here's a weird thing. I had an aura photo taken in Byron Bay and it came out almost entirely green. I liked it a lot so kept it, put it in a box and forgot it. A few years later I was having a clear out, I looked at the photo and the colour had changed to gold. Like it had somehow updated itself.I am sure mainstream science won't agree with you on that score . They are kinda cool though, I mean there are no two pics exactly a like . Each colour can represent a state of being / mind . Some aura's can change moment by moment, some stay similar depending on what is captured . I had one taken many years ago and it contained a lot of purple / violet with a white blob over my face . There where two streaks / columns of light either side of me and there was a distinct image of what looked like an egyptian cat coming over my head . This was at a similar time to when I was having memories of my pharaoh lifetime . Very cool indeed . Back to the subject of purity and frequencies / vibrations I think these energy capturing photo's can reflect / represent one's state of mind / being to some degree . Many mediums read the colours don't they and colours are just frequencies .. I mean the photo of a master with an open heart won't be similar to the dude that has just bashed up his wife . I associate a level of purity with one's energy signature / frequency / vibration . In terms of the Self realized the vibratory rate will be much higher than the selfish ignorant pig .. Yes I have no problem talking about it in terms of frequency and vibration, but for me, a more generally relatable way to talk about this is in terms of intention. In one of Lynne McTaggart's books, I forget which, she talked about an experiment on plants. They recorded a bunch of plants micro responses. When one of the plants was attacked, they all responded in alarm. Interesting. Even more interesting is that when the guy faked an attack, the plants remained calm. They could read his intention. I see the purifying as a purification of intention. An obvious way to say this is to become genuinely more harmless. Pseudo harmlessness doesn't work. Then again, that's not to say that there is no place for force, and maybe even anger can come with a purity. I was having a bit of a rant to my kids the other day about swim pool safety, and mid rant a butterfly came and settled on my shoulder. Put me off my rant a bit he he. As an aside, but not totally irrelevant, the film Whiplash explores 'intention' well. It is kind of a movie about the zen stick, but in a different context.

I've been critical of what Enigma has said about purification in the past because it sounded like therapy to me. But the idea of purification exists in Yoga in the eight limbs of Patanjali's Raja Yoga. It exists in Buddhism in the eightfold path of right speech, right thinking etc and in the practice of Loving Kindness for instance. Mahesh Yogi spoke about meditation in terms of purification. He said the nervous system was like a battery and stored stress which was released and dissolved in meditation by experiencing finer levels of thinking and transcending to experience pure awareness. This release of stress resulted in a finely tuned physiology and nervous system which could increasingly maintain awareness along with activity. This is purification in a yogic sense.

Oh, I thought E's focus upon purification was kind of a new thing.....as far as I remember conversing with him, he's never advocated any particular practice other than 'noticing,' so perhaps I missed something...? I do get how the very idea that there is something wrong with mind...it is unpure and needs 'fixing' could be seen to be just one more thing that perpetuates the garbage....but I think some here are talking more about a purification that is a natural happening...more a 'by-product' of clarity than anything else. I've yet to read all the posts in this thread, so I will hafta see on that note...

Many different ideas about what precisely it means and how it happens, for sure.

Yep I can relate to intention (I have said as much on the other forum) Intention however carries a vibrational frequency . Peeps can say one thing and there intention is to deceive . A very cool man that is on the board of a healing organisation I used go to on a weekly basis . www.paullambillion.co.uk/I have done a few workshops with him .. He reads aura's (not from photo's) . He used to say that he watched peoples aura's change when what they said was not true . Each intention carries an energy that can be measured / read for use of a better word . Not sure what other words would fit the bill in regards to measuring / reading energy?

I agree that if we want to explain purification, then at some point it will get very hard to avoid the idea of energy. After all, why does an insight or 'realization' stick? Why does meditation and yoga have beneficial and lasting effect? Well, it is because there is a resonance with our being, a truthfulness to it that is more potent and powerful than discordance, misalignment and lies. This is an energy principle, in which one force is greater than another. It also partly explains the power of entrainment, in which just being with people that are awake can challenge and push an individual's conditioning and energy.

Yer zackley it would be likened to speaking about rainbows without mentioning colour . I saw something last night and thought of you lol . Remember we were speaking of self identity and the cells of our bodies communicating and such likes . This channel that I tune into every now and again posted a video a few days ago speaking of very similar things . The actual video is fun based but held some seriousness . She was reading the energy of someones organs in a way where she said that her organs were communicating to her . I know this opens the door for lots of ridicule, so don't shoot the messenger guys . In regards to what you spoke of about yoga and meditation and the lasting effects emphasises in my opinion that everything is energy based . The famous book, the science of self realization really does emphasise that it's all a process of energy workings .

We just have to look around at the consensual world to answer that question.
