Jim Carrey.......Enlightened or mentally unstable? I'm ignorant to whether Jim Carrey or those at the Spiritual Teachers forum are sentient, let alone enlightened or mentally unstable, nor does it matter... Hehe

I'm ignorant to whether Jim Carrey or those at the Spiritual Teachers forum are sentient, let alone enlightened or mentally unstable, nor does it matter... Hehe It's kinda cool Source, because in your intent to mock or challenge (or whatever it actually is you're doing), you provide an excellent example of what it means to be stuck at 2nd mountain (aka "Brown Bearin," - a term coined over on ST, in response to a cartoon created by Jeff Foster). It's a position that some get stuck at, I think mainly because their grasp upon 'the emptiness of form,' is a conceptual one only....they have not actually realized 'no mountain,' but rather, it's an idea held within mind. True realization of the emptiness, results in an absence, vs. a presence. The presence, that's the result of that conceptual grasping, takes the form of denial and eschewing of the phenomenal. Thus, we have folks claiming that nothing matters, they no longer care, there is no one here, who could care, etc, (very much in line with the position you have been presenting here). If anything, seeing the transient and empty nature of the phenomenal, leaves one even more in silent awe of it all.....& rather than a decrease of caring, there is a sort of unattached reverance for all that unfolds.... the very fact that despite not knowing the specifics of why or how, that all this is actually happening. If there is a sense that nothing matters anymore or that you've lost all sense of caring, it's a likely bet you're stuck in conceptualization of what you 'think' emptiness means.

That's like asking someone who just found out there is no Santa Claus, where the absence of his belief in Santa came from. I guess you could say 'from clarity'.....but....

No, no, beliefs simply fall away, isn't it? The Clarity of ignorance is simply restored when beliefs are seen to be what they actually are, which is empty appearances. They don't get replaced with a new belief or the appearance of the absence of beliefs...hehe
