Your expectation of something unique and dramatic, of some wonderful explosion, is merely hindering and delaying your self-realization. You are not to expect an explosion, for the explosion has already happened - at the moment you were born, when you realized yourself as being-knowing-feeling. There is only one mistake you are making. You take the inner for the outer and the outer for the inner. What is in you, you take to be outside you and what is outside you take to be in you. The mind and feelings are external, but you take them to be internal. You believe the world to be objective, while it is entirely a projection of your psyche. That is the basic confusion and no new explosion will set it right. You have to think yourself out of it. There is no other way. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj (I've yet to see Nisargadatta describing obliteration of the mind...) Sages don't all speak in the same way. They use their own words. Nisargadatta was clear that the I Am had to be dissolved and transcended to know your real nature which is prior to mind, so in that practice of residing in the I am that dissolution leads to destruction of mind (manonasa). sivanandaonline.org/public_html/?cmd=displaysection§ion_id=928In this quote Niz righty warns about being attached to experiences and having expectations of some wonderful explosion of experience but in reality Self realization is very ordinary, a total and irreversible relaxation into the natural state which is Peace. Sorry. I don't click on links provided by peeps with attitude problems. Once you give up your identification with the body, then you are all the time the Self, or Atman, only. For this, no effort is required. You only have to realize that you are not the body. You can try to act like what you are not, but whatever you are already, you need not do anything extra [to be that]. The Self is spontaneously, already there. There is no effort [needed to realize]. You are not to gain your Self, you are already That. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj (...still no evidence of mind obliteration/destruction)

There is nothing to do. It is choiceless. It is the natural state.

It is the maturity of heart and mind that is essential. It comes effortlessly when the main obstacle is removed - inattention, unawareness. In awareness you grow. ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj You got a long way to go little man.

Yes as Nisargadatta wisely acknowledges growth is in cultivating awareness. That is the key to waking up. To be completely absorbed in nondual objectless awareness is annihilation of mind because no thoughts reside there. It is limitless Bliss

It's hard to keep up with all the waffling. One minute, SR is very ordinary, the next, it elevates all experience into the realm of Bliss and ecstasy.

What I do know is that when it comes to the subject of awakening, you don't your arse from a hole in the ground.

That's very funny 😀 I thought the expression was not knowing your arse from your elbow. Never mind. The natural state which is Self realization is very ordinary because how could it be anything else, and the essence of that realization is bliss/peace (Ananda) which is very ordinary for the realized. Now you wouldn't want me to talk about amazing experiences would you?
