“Physicists tell us that the solidity of matter is an illusion. Even seemingly solid matter, including your physical body, is nearly 100 percent empty space — so vast are the distances between the atoms compared to their size. What is more, even inside every atom there is mostly empty space. What is left is more like a vibrational frequency than particles of solid matter, more like a musical note. Buddhists have known that for over 2,500 years. “Form is emptiness, emptiness is form,” states the Heart Sutra, one of the best known ancient Buddhist texts. The essence of all things is emptiness.” ― Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment that's pretty much the same as what that other dude was talking about. almost entirely nothing, but with a few specks of something being drawn together for reasons unknown Yes, the concepts spoken about in each are indeed very similar.

well why doesn't your butt fall though the chair when you sit on it? smoke n mirrors? supernatural forces behind the scenes? As an 'in the dream' theory, the one given in that scientific article is fine. From a transcendent perspective, the question is misconceived. Cool, 'your question is misconceived' is less insulting than 'you don't have a reference'

Excellent writing. Yes, as I've related many times before, I can recall, decades ago, for a period of about twenty years, every now and then I'd suddenly pause, look at my hand and think ".. huh .. mostly empty space, and that not empty space not independent of the observation of it ...". And then I'd go back to work.

.. yes, and there's like about 4 particular months after I'd read "The Iron Cow of Zen" .. where I was walking around, hyper-alert for internal-"I", relentlessly attentive to stimuli and any secondary interpretation thereof .. man that was fun!
